OAKFIELDS CREATIVE

Grateful

I’ve started making YouTube videos again.

It’s not a flood of content — more a steady trickle — but I’m genuinely happy to be back. The first video already feels like a clear step forward from my earlier work. Not perfect, but better. And that’s the point of starting again.

The intro didn’t hold viewers for as long as I’d hoped, but I’m treating that as useful feedback rather than failure. This restart is about learning — understanding what works, what doesn’t, and improving each time. Instead of worrying about what people think, I’m focusing on analysing the process and adjusting as I go. I’m enjoying it far more the second time around, with less pressure and more curiosity.

With the next video, I’m less concerned about what I’m making and more focused on how I show it — the storytelling, pacing, and how the viewer experiences the build.

This marks the start of a series of videos planned for the year ahead. A connected set of stories, really — about the work I do, the things I care about, and what makes me tick.

The small things in the background

Alongside the bigger picture, it’s the quieter jobs that keep everything moving. Small repairs for family, bits and pieces that need bringing back to life.

Recently, my mum’s vintage magnifying glass came apart — the handle had separated from the main body. I stripped it down, cleaned the glass and brass, glued it back together, and finished it with a light wax and buff.

Nothing dramatic. Just one of those small, satisfying jobs that remind me why I like making and fixing in the first place.

Thinking about older projects

I’ve also been reflecting on my older YouTube videos. Over time, quite a few people have asked about files, plans, and how certain projects were made.

Those designs don’t hold much value for me now beyond what they taught me. They’re reminders of lessons learned and mistakes made — part of the process.

But it has sparked an idea.

I’m considering putting together some simple project packs here, sharing files and plans for people who might find them useful. If they help someone get started, build confidence, or avoid a few of the mistakes I made, then they still serve a purpose.

I’d really value your input:
- Would project packs be useful to you?
- Which past builds would you want plans for?
- What would actually help you start or finish a project?

Let me know in the comments — I’d like this to be shaped by what people genuinely need, not just what I think might be useful.
